Sikeston, Missouri
Sikeston is a city located in Scott and New Madrid Counties in Missouri. It is located on Interstate 55, Interstate 57, and U.S. Route 60. Sikeston is located nearly halfway beetween St. Louis, Missouri, and Memphis, Tennessee, and is three hours from Nashville, Tennessee.
As of the 2010 census, the city's population was 16,318. It is the principal city in Scott County, which has a population of 41,143. Sikeston is fourth most populous city in Missouri's 8th Congressional District behind Cape Girardeau, Rolla, Poplar Bluff, and Farmington.
Major employers in Sikeston are Unilver, Missouri Delta Medical Center, Sikeston Public Schools, Walmart, and Montgomery Bank, the largest, privately-owned, family-operated bank in Missouri. Agriculture is also a large part of Sikeston's economy. Cotton, soybeans, corn, rice, watermelons, wheat, milo, potatoes, and poultry are products of the area.
