SUPERVALU TO LEASE SPACE
April 5, 2000
Evidently, not all the office operations of Supervalu will be leaving Scott City, at
least for the time being. Tom Kelsey, broker with Lorimont Place, Ltd. disclosed that
office space had been leased to the giant grocery store distributor.
Kelsey said that Supervalu had leased office space in
Scott City Plaza for their regional military distribution division. This section of the
company handles distribution of products primarily to government and military users. The
office space, at 2110 Main Street was formerly occupied as the operations office for the
Southeast Missouri Port Authority.
The new office will be equipped with necessary data and
communication network, so this division can move from Supervalus main offices
located in the Scot City warehouse facility. A May 15 occupancy date is planned.
Supervalu announced a few months ago, that the entire
food distribution operation in Scott City would be closing. The facility opened as
Wetterau, Inc. in the early 1960s and was bought out in recent years by Supervalu,
with corporate headquarters in Minneapolis.
