The former Supervalu distribution facility in Scott
City has been listed with Lorimont Place, Ltd. according to Tom Kelsey,
broker with the Cape Girardeau based commercial brokerage firm.
The 260,040 square foot warehouse/office building is being marketed
either for sale or lease. Built
in the early 1960’s, it originally housed Wetterau Foods, an IGA food
distributor until Supervalu acquired that company several years ago.
The building has now been vacant for about a year.
The property features 10,000 square feet of offices
and over 50 acres of property. It’s
close proximity to the Southeast Missouri Port Authority, Cape Regional
Airport, Missouri Pacific Railroad and Interstate 55 put it in a viable
location for a variety of users. The
property will be marketed regionally and nationally targeting
manufacturers, warehouse operators, distribution companies and others.
The Lorimont firm will also be working with state
and local industrial recruitment agencies in their search for either a
purchaser or tenant. With
the sale or lease of such a large facility the prospects for new jobs
will be very possible.
Kelsey said he has been involved in marketing,
selling and leasing of several larger area industrial properties in
recent years including the former 94,000 square foot Florsheim
Shoe Factory, 104,000 square foot Edward’s
Sportswear Facility and the Lenertz
Warehouse Property near the Proctor & Gamble Plant, which at the
time of the sale was over 435,600 square feet.
