Prairie Farms Dairy, Inc. will be moving their
Southeast Missouri distribution warehouse and operation office with
the acquisition of a new commercial property on Nash Road in Cape
Girardeau. Tom Kelsey,
commercial broker with Lorimont Place, Ltd., who handled the sale
confirmed that Prairie Farms had purchased the property at 3420 Nash
Road from Rhodes Real Estate Partners for a distribution location.
The acquisition includes a 6,850 square foot
warehouse building and approximately 1.4 acres of property.
Kelsey said the location, just east of Raben Tire Company was
originally used for many years as Borden’s Ice Cream refrigerated
warehouse for the area. The
Lorimont broker said he understood that Prairie Farms would completely
remodel the entire building to accommodate their own refrigerated
cooler, truck shop and loading facility.
The property also contains offices that they would utilize for
their branch operations.
Prairie
Farms manufacturers and markets a full line of dairy food products
out of its own 17 plants, along with 13 others through subsidiary
companies and joint ventures throughout the Midwest. Prairie Farms’
line includes a wide variety of fluid milk products; juices and
drinks; cultured dairy products including dips, sour cream, cottage
cheese and yogurt; and the creamy pleasure of Prairie Farms ice cream,
including their premium brand, Prairie Farms Old Recipe.
Kelsey
understood the company has already started on it’s renovations of
the building and anticipates a late summer opening. The local distribution facility covers a large area of
Southeast Missouri.
