WORKFORCE INVESTMENT BOARD RELOCATES OFFICES

The Workforce Investment Board, a local
state funded agency who finds jobs for individuals in the
Southeast Missouri area is relocating to the Eagle Peak
Office Building located at 760 S. Kingshighway in Cape
Girardeau.
Tom Kelsey, commercial broker with Lorimont
Place, Ltd. who handled the lease transaction confirmed that the
agency has leased 7,000 square-feet in the multi-tenant office
building.
The WIB has previously been leasing space
in the multi-story Marquette Towers in downtown Cape Girardeau.
June O’Dell, President said a larger space and a more
central location on one floor was the deciding factor to
relocate to the Eagle Peak building.
The local
investment board is one of 14 separate ones in the State of
Missouri. The Southeast Region includes the thirteen counties of
Bollinger, Cape Girardeau, Dunklin, Iron, Madison, Mississippi,
New Madrid, Pemiscot, Perry, Scott, St. Francois, Ste. Genevieve
and Stoddard. The Local Board is appointed by the area’s Chief
Elected Official and is certified by the Governor. The
Governor is also responsible for establishing the criteria for
use by the chief elected official in appointing the Local Board
members.
The agency’s vision
is to promote a state of economic well being by helping to
create a skilled, diverse, motivated, and adaptable workforce
resulting in a high quality standard of life for region they
serve.
Kelsey said the WIB
anticipates being in their new offices by the first of May and
modifications to the space are ongoing to meet that deadline.
The new location is located on South Kingshighway, just
south of the Highway 74 intersection.
Ironically, the agency was located in the same office
building several years ago prior to moving downtown.
