NARS OPENS OPERATIONS IN AUBURN PARK BUILDING

NARS, which stands for National
Asset Recovery Service Inc. recently announced it was
opening a domestic call center in Cape Girardeau that will
eventually bring as many as 500 new jobs to Cape Girardeau.
The company will ultimately locate to 40,000 square feet of
converted office space in the former Cape Sears building, vacant
since last December when Sears built a new 150,000 square foot
store. In the
meantime, NARS will occupy space on the third and fourth floors
in the 70,000 square foot
Auburn Park building
located near West Park Mall.
Tom Kelsey, commercial broker with Lorimont Place, Ltd. ,
who handled the Auburn Park lease transaction said the company
has already moved in and began operations.
The interim office space will enable NARS to immediately begin
training operations for 100 employees already hired by the
company. The Auburn
Park Place building, owned by Drury Southwest had available
space for the company ready for immediate occupancy.
Anthem Blue Cross & Blue Shield, who has operated a
customer service center in Cape Girardeau since 1997 had
formerly used the same space for employee training.
The company will handle inbound customer calls from national
clients as Sprint and Charter Communications.
NARS headquarters in in the St. Louis suburb of
Chesterfield and describes itself as a call center outsourcing
firm with 1,100-employee facility in Panama City, Panama, and
more than 1,000 employees at a center in Montego Bay, Jamaica.
Kelsey said Cape Girardeau was able to land the company with
joint effort from the City along with help from local, regional
and state economic development agencies.
Mitch Robinson, director of
Cape Area Magnet,
the local industrial and business recruitment agency said the
company will receive $466,173 in new job training bonds and
$500,000 in development tax credits to help buy equipment for
the new facility.
NARS anticipates opening in the former Sears building sometime
in the spring with over 400 workstations representing 500 jobs.
