MID-SOUTH WIRE WILL OPEN NEW PLANT IN SCOTT CITY

A manufacturing company who is
a major supplier to Rubbermaid in Jackson will locate
in Scott City. Tom
Kelsey, commercial broker with Lorimont Place, Ltd.
confirmed the sale of the Penzel Warehouse and that it will
be the new home to Mid South Wire Company, a Nashville based
company.
Kelsey said
the 100,000 square foot warehouse owned by Penzel Trust and
located at 503 Main
Street in Scott City is situated on 10 acres of property
complete with its own railroad spur.
He said the company would utilize the railroad and the
SEMO port facilities for incoming product.
No sales price was announced but the Lorimont website
shows a $1,600,00 price for the property.
The company
is a major supplier to Rubbermaid in Jackson and this new
manufacturing facility would enable them to increase their
business and give better on-time delivery with the closer
location. Kelsey
said Arrowhead Steel is a present tenant in the building and
plans were for them to remain in a portion of the building.
Mid South
Wire founded in 1967 is a family owned business and they expect
to grow to 50 employees at the new Scott City facility.
They also have their own trucking fleet and will use this
location as their logistics hub.
Mitch
Robinson, director for
Cape Girardeau Area Magnet was also involved in the
recruitment of the company to come to the area said, “ We are
pleased to welcome a new manufacturer that will benefit our
entire region. This
partnership that Mid-South Wire has with Rubbermaid helps in our
efforts for workforce retention
and the creation of new jobs for both companies”
Tim Porch,
Scott City’s Mayor also was elated to have a new industry in
town said “new jobs in our community is always a big deal for
the city. We are
elated that this family owned company selected our town to
locate to”.
Kelsey said
the industrial building market has been very active in recent
times beginning with the sale of the 260,000 square foot former
Supervalu building,
also in Scott City to Buchheit’s.
His company also handled the sale of the 75,000 square
foot former Columbia
Sportswear property at Chaffee and the 103,000 square foot
warehouse building in Jackson purchased by
ISI Recycling.
Last week a sale closed on the former
50,000 square foot
Media Press building in Sikeston that will be utilized for
contract warehousing.
Mid-South Wire is
already moving ahead with modifications on the building.
They announced they expect to start with 25 new jobs and
increase that to 50 within two years.
