DIRT CHEAP TO OPEN STORE IN CAPE

420 S. Kingshighway in Cape
Girardeau, Missouri
St. Louis
based Dirt Cheap will expand into the Southeast Missouri
market with a store location at 420 S. Kingshighway in Cape
Girardeau. Tom
Kelsey, commercial broker with Lorimont Place, Ltd.
confirmed the company has leased the 6,783 square- foot
building and plans to open a retail operation there.
Dirt Cheap has 12 locations in the St. Louis area and
1 in Paducah, Kentucky.
They are a discount retailer of liquor, wine, beer
and tobacco products. The building formerly was occupied by
Mid-America Power Equipment for many years and most recently
by Nobbe John Deere.
Kelsey said it was his understanding that the city
recently approved the liquor license for the new tenant and
they would complete major renovations on the building.
That remodeling is currently ongoing with a store
opening date within the near future.
The first Dirt Cheap
store was opened in 1993 in Fenton with one employee and now
has grown to 14 locations.
The company is owned by the Paul Taylor family from
St. Louis. They
also own and operate shopping centers and the U-Gas
convenience store chain with 16 locations primarily in the
St. Louis area.
