CITY OF CAPE PURCHASES 12 ACRES
IN SIX-THIRTY INDUSTRIAL PARK
The City of Cape Girardeau recently purchased 12
acres in the Six Thirty Industrial Park. Tom Kelsey, broker for
Lorimont Place, Ltd., who handled the transaction said the land
site is located on Corporate Circle, east of the Dana Plant and
north of Midsouth Steel Products.
Kelsey said it is his understanding that the city has plans
to eventually build a new maintenance facility on the site,
which would replace the existing operation on North
Kingshighway. Up to 75,000 square feet of office space, shop and
storage facility could occupy the recently purchased land tract
within the next three to five years.
The industrial development is already home to over 17 Cape
Girardeau companies, with several on the drawing board for
constructing new buildings. Projects underway in the industrial
park include Jim Wilson Company, who will relocate into a 70,000
square foot warehouse/operations facility and the recently
completed Rental Service Corporation located between Ryder
Transportation and Cape Central Publishing. Plans are also
underway to build up to a 100,000 square foot public warehouse
on a five-acre tract just west of the Dana Plant. Santie
Wholesale Oil Company from Sikeston, who purchased property a
few years ago still plans to construct a facility on a site just
west of Cotner Electric in the near future.
Kelsey said his company; Lorimont is handling most of the
sales for the development and offers land tracts from 1 to 12
acres. Another 3.25-acre parcel has also been sold and
announcement will be made in the very near future regarding this
sale.
