One of Jackson’s longtime businesses, G & G
Furniture located at 2941 E. Jackson
Blvd. is closing after nearly 32 years of operation.
Tom Kelsey, commercial broker with Lorimont Place, Ltd also
announced that a buyer has been found for the property.
Roy and Iverne Glass built the building and opened the
furniture store in 1974. The
business has been a family operation since it’s opening and handled a
line of affordably priced home furnishings and bedding products.
A going out of business sale is in progress to clear out all of
the present inventory. Kelsey
said the new buyer, S & S Rentals, LLC has plans to re-develop the
store into multi-tenant lease spaces suitable for both retail or office
use.
The 11,360 square foot building was very attractive for
this type of use with its size, lay-out, high traffic and visibility
location. Kelsey
understands the buyer will enlarge the parking and completely renovate
the structure. It is
anticipated that construction on the property will begin sometime early
in the Spring.
Kelsey said the quick sale of the Jackson building is
indicative of a healthy commercial real estate market there.
Just a few months ago, his real estate firm sold the former 15,000
square foot Sander’s True-Value Hardware building at 2310 E.
Jackson Blvd. that is now being renovated into a retail tire store.
He understands this new Jackson retailer, Pro-Tire will be open
soon.
